JBJ City Developers held in Bangalore for land scam

A city-based real estate developer was arrested by the Bangalore police in connection with a Rs 20-crore scam in Tamil Nadu and a Rs 7-crore land scam in Bangalore. Officials of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the Bangalore police arrested Manivannan, director of Chennai-based JBJ City Developers.Bangalore police commissioner Shankar Bidari handed over the case to the CCB, which found that the company had cheated people of Rs 7 crore in Bangalore and more than Rs 20 crore in Tamil Nadu.

JBJ City Developers having its corporate office in Chennai and having branches all over Tamilnadu, collected several lakhs from people and cheated them by not registering land and also not giving back their money. Instead they supplied several cheques, which bounced consequently.

The case came to light when people complained that JBJ City Developers had collected money for land and then failed to allot plots. When the customers approached, the management allegedly threatened them. Bangalore police arrested Manivannan, director of Chennai-based JBJ City Developers on wednesday. The Bangalore police earlier arrested Shivakumar S, director, Justin Devadoss, chairman and MD of the company, and another person. The police recovered Rs 10 lakh and other documents from them but Manivannan was absconding.

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Tamil Nadu police commenced investigations into the multicrore fraud last week. More than 1,000 victims thronged the EOW office to file their complaints. Almost all the victims shared the same story of being sold a dream of owning land without paying much money.

Shalem, who worked as an executive for JBJ said, “They promised us 10% commission if we promoted the investment schemes among locals,”. The city police commissioner’s office and the suburban police commissioner’s office in Chennai had received a number of complaints from people who were cheated by the company. With the arrest of Manivannan, the police have finally managed to bust a racket that came to light five months ago.

SDM Magistrate thrashed at Windsor Park in Indirapuram

A sub-divisional magistrate was allegedly beaten up by an assistant senior engineer of Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) and his friends when he objected to loud music they were playing in a club. The incident took place on Wednesday night (November 18) at Windsor Park in Indirapuram.

According to Akhil Kumar, SSP (Ghaziabad), the incident took place when SDM Vishal Singh went to the club at Wincer Palace and requested the club management not to play loud music at night. "He was trying to help his children in their studies but the loud music from the club located inside the residential complex distracted them. He then went down to the club around 11.30pm to request the organizers to turn down the music,'' said Kumar.

"We have registered a case of hurt. As the SDM was not on duty when the incident took place, we have not slapped a case of stopping a government servant from discharging his duty. We will question a few other people, including the DJ. The victim and his PSO were taken to the hospital for treatment. Doctors said both the victim were out of danger,'' said a senior police officer.

According to Rajesh Tripathi, station officer, Indirapuram, “when SDM Vishal Singh and his PSO requested Chowdhry to turn down the music, the latter protested, the verbal duel soon turned ugly and the accused and his friends beat up the SDM and his PSO. The SDM then called police who soon arrived at the spot and arrested Chowdhry and three of his associates,''.

According to residents and RWA of Windsor Park, Subash Chowdhry is one of the apartment owners in Windsor Park. He has bought more than half a dozen of apartments and the club in Windsor Park which was residential purpose was used for commercial purpose by Chowdhry. Chowdhry and his friends used to have party and DJ music was played loud in late night which often distracts the residents of apartment. According to them who ever objected to loud music was beaten by Chowdhry and his friends. According to them, instead of police taking action against Chowdhry and his friends, police takes action against those who objects Chowdhry. When SDM Vishal Singh was allegedly beaten up by Chowdhry and his friends, residents of Windsor Park gathered at house of Akhil Kumar, SSP Ghaziabad demanding to the arrest of Chowdhry and his friends.

Police said they had arrested four of the attackers Narendra Chaudhary, Mahesh Verma, Sandeep Nagar and Pradeep Singh and were hunting for several more people. The engineer, identified as one N K Chowdhry, claimed that he was the personal assistant of Uttar Pradesh minister Naimuddin Siddique. Owners, residents and RWA of Windsor Park says that police has arrested Subash Chowdhry and released SDM Vishal Singh’s attackers on bail without taking the incident seriously.

Ever since we launched the gallery feature, we had been waiting for the weekend for a team-party. Being the product manager, it was my duty to organize the party.

I am not aware of the best restaurant that will suit the demands of all team members, so I posted the this question in "Ask Others " section of CommonFloor - "Which is the best restaurant near Suncity, that will serve us Chinese cuisine and should have a dessert option nearby. Proximity to a punjabi restaurant will be a plus, in case mood changes at the last moment which usually happens?"

Thankfully, I got 3 replies within an hour about "Yo-China" restaurant near Marathalli. One helpful neighbor (Sumit) also pointed out that it is near to Innovative Multiplex. I made a quick visit to Weekend Guide and found movies running in Innovative Multiplex so as to book tickets for the team!

Now, I am looking forward towards Sunday for the party!

To mark my 12th day* at commonfloor, we had a team outing in Bangalore, complete with pizzas, pani-puri, bhelpuri, chocolates, cakes and my favorite - juices. After hitting the streets for 20 minutes, we reached an extremely beautiful place and spend some 3 hours there.

The 5 of us (Lalit, Sumit, Mitanshu, Satya, Vikas) waiting for Dominoes pizzas! A good start with pizzas prepares a good base for the day.

Its raining! Rains with regular breaks(read: photo sessions) puts (slippery) cheese on the base.

Baking the base for optimum time is very important for a good preparation. We at commonfloor believes in having good fun in the sunlight that follows the rains!

One step leads to the other. Putting the vegetable and sausages on the pizza is the next step. Put the pizza for baking quickly so as to satisfy the hunger and greed!
